Simon Glickman and Julia Rubiner are one of the chamber’s most dynamic of duos. For years now, these two have been slinging up picante participles as EDITORIAL EMERGENCY for many of the chamber’s campaigns. Simon and Julia created the “Keep the Silver in Silver Lake” slogan, and their copywriting is smart, sassy and seductive, just like them! As regular fixtures at our functions, they keep the party alive with their zesty joie de vivre and literate humor. And as you’ll see below from all the props they give to local businesses, these two are truly community-minded. We owe Simon and Julia a reservoir of thanks for their energy, enthusiasm and significant contributions to making our chamber voice sing – they are truly members with heart.

PIPER GOLDSTEIN is new to the chamber, but hardly to the neighborhood. For years she’s been a vibrant force, growing organic food right here in our neck of the woods on her farm in Atwater Village. Early this year she opened the doors of her great corner shop where she stocks her shelves with the finest organic products, locally grown produce and fresh foods to tickle your tastebuds and keep you healthy. We’re excited to join Piper on April 19th for our quarterly mixer where she’ll host our members and we’re sure teach us a thing or two about what we should eat and how.

PAUL REDMOND is a long-time Chamber member and friend to so many of us in this community. As one of the Chamber’s contributing photographers, his thoughtful and striking photos of Silver Lake were featured in the 2011 Chamber Member Directory. Paul’s quick wit, community enthusiasm and observant nature make him a great collaborative partner and someone we’re always happy to see at our events. This month, Paul graciously opened his studio doors in Frogtown for our quarterly mixer, right on the banks of the L.A. River.

HELEN KIM enthusiastically joined the chamber last year and quickly worked her way into our hearts. Initially joining forces with our former creative director, David Etzen, Helen designed the new Member Packets and Member Cards that we’ll be rolling out soon.  And now she’s helping us develop a fresh new look – meaning new website, Silver eNews and this here blog! Helen’s creativity, sheer talent and easy nature make her an absolute pleasure to collaborate with. We couldn’t feel more fortunate to have caught her eye.

STEVE MELENDREZ is one of those local characters that immediately draws you in, makes you smile and reminds you why Silver Lake is one the bright and shining stars of Los Angeles. His enthusiasm, hilarious sense of humor and positivity make him one of the most welcoming people you’ll ever meet in our great neighborhood. After serving on the Silver Lake Chamber of Commerce Board as our fearless president for the last year, he’s now focusing his attention on his store, his family and his friends. We’re so grateful to have worked with him to build up this amazing community of business owners and we wish him all the best in the years to come! If you haven’t been to his place yet, be sure to check it out for some gorgeous, one-of-a-kind home furnishings. He recently cut off his long locks, but you’ll recognize the smile. Drop in and say hello!
